Wow.
Long time no blog. A lot has been going on! Some of it not good, but I don’t want to dwell on that. This post is my attempt to focus on and do something positive.
My vacation week went well! I had a stressful week off that derailed my readathon – though I have finished two books since I last posted.
The weekend of my vacation, my husband surprised me by taking me to an antique book store and buying me an 80 year old edition of my favorite book Pride and Prejudice.
I KNOW! I did not expect this at all.
And the icing on the cake was I got to hold and see this…

Yep. It’s a first edition. I was speechless. I could not afford this so I just got to examine it but I was fangirling so hard. I was able to talk to the owner of the shop for a while which was also enjoyable.
That was the highlight of the week thanks to my amazing husband. We wandered around Long Beach Island and Ocean City in NJ which was nice because it was nearly empty in the off season.
We also visited a Wildlife Refuge where we watched ospreys, great blue herons, swans… my husband was a little obsessed with seeing the ospreys, we watched one after it had already killed and was eating a fish. This made me want to get a new lens for my camera, as my picture taking was limited. But we loved it.
As for reading…
The two books I finished are:

I gave it 5/5 stars. This was a re- read . It’s just a great book! It was a bit darker than I remembered BUT it was so moving and had such good lessons.
I also finished:

4/5 stars. Also an enjoyable read. I go on and on about this author, she is just reliably good. I have one book of hers left to read and then I must wait!
Right now I am trying to decide what to read next. I will update when I have decided.
Happy reading! I am looking forward to catching up with everyone’s posts.
a first edition Pride and Prejudice, nice! How much was it?

That one was around $2800. The ORIGINAL one that she wrote (I think that it comes in three parts?) is waaaaay more than that I learned. Understandably so. I learned so much. lol

wow. I don’t think I could ever justify spending our money like that. Even if I want to ๐

First edition of P&P would have had me fangirling pretty hard too! Was it beautiful? And where’s the pic of your 80 year old edition? We can fangirl over that one too! ๐
Nice to see that even though your vacation week plans were derailed (sorry to hear that, btw) you got to end it on a very lovely high note with fabulous books, birds and nature.

That book was beautiful! I could not stop smiling! I do have pics of the one we bought, I just need to upload it. Thank you and yes, when life hands you lemons go to an antique book store and stalk ospreys!

That’s always been my exact go to when it comes to tough times. Though I’m not picky about which bird I stalk. ๐
